Museum
Museum Trip
A fascinating day at the Auckland Museum - exploring, learning, sharing and collaborating. We all had a wonderful time and Room 7 demonstarated FIRE and ACE - our school values.
Our children loved the 'Wierd and Wonderful' section and were both intruiged and scared when experiencing the sensation of an earthquake.
It was a beautiful summers day and during our lunch break we spent time outside on the grass and climbing trees.

Maori
KORU
The koru (Māori for "loop or coil") is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fern frond. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace.
Pepe is wearing a traditional Koru necklace gifted by her family.
Thank you for sharing Pepe - the Koru design looks stunning.

Our fabulous research and development has been captured by Year 3 and 4 students. The boys and girls have had a great time sharing their new found knowledge, vocabulary, presentation skills, writing and communication techniques on milk production and processing.

Taniwha
Creating our Taniwha illustration - Using Pastel, Coloured Pencils and Shading
In Māori mythology, taniwha are beings that live in deep pools in rivers, dark caves, or in the sea, especially in places with dangerous currents or deceptive breakers.
WALT- understand the colour wheel, contrasting colours (hot and cold), black and white, design a myth, smudging / scratching pastel. Gradient - light to dark. Juxtapose cultural symbols and figures to enhance the framework of your representation. Use balance and harmony.

Happy Friday to all Students and Teachers
Such a treat to have mufti day on a Friday where the students and staff could dress up as their favourite animal.

Measuring Objects and Lines
Measurement in Room 7
Using our rulers to calculate the exact measurement in cm's, mm's and metres. Being precise in our measuring to ensure it is accurate.
We used estimates - which are an intellegent guess and then compared them to the actual measurement to see the difference in our calculation.
Measuring the length and width of various objects enables us to compare and contrast.
Our next step is to explore perimeter - the continuous line forming the boundary of a closed geometrical shape.
